Regina Huda School Grade 12 Graduation Summary

The gymnasium was full of parents, teachers, students, and special guests. The special guests in attendance include:
Her Honour, the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan
Mr. Ralph Goodale, Member of Parliament for Wascana and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada
Mr. Mark Docherty, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Regina Coronation Park and Minister of Parks, Culture, and Sport
Dr. Essam Hussein, University of Regina Dean of Engineering and Applied Science
Mr. Mervin Phillips, friend and lawyer of Regina Huda School
Ms. Amy Hunter, student recruiter from the University of Regina
Mr. Darren Boldt, Regina Public Schools Superintendent
Mrs. Twila Wilson, former Regina Huda School Principal
Mrs. Carla Natrasany, former Regina Huda School Principal
Abubakr Syed began the ceremony with a recitation from the Qur’an.
Saria Jabbar, the afternoon’s Mistress of Ceremonies invited the high school teachers to introduce the ten graduands.
Dr. Aboguddah welcomed guests and addressed the room with a message from the Regina Huda School Board.
Her Honour brought greetings on behalf of Queen Elizabeth.
Mr. Ralph Goodale addressed the students, giving them some valuable advice for their future. Mr. Mark Docherty also addressed the students with some words of wisdom for achieving success.
Mrs. Nistor delivered the Regina Huda School Principal’s message.
Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Littlemore presented certificates to graduating members of the honour roll and great honour roll.
These students were:
Honour roll (average between 85% and 89%) – Aisha Ghulam
Great Honour Roll (average 90% and higher) – Alaa Safia Bouzertit and Sahar Tahir
The graduating students received a number of scholarships.
Ms. Amy Hunter presented the entrance scholarships from the University of Regina. These include the Centennial Merit
scholarship ($2000 for entrance averages between 90 and 94.9%) to Aisha Ghulam and Sahar Tahir and the Centennial
Merit Plus scholarship ($3000 for entrance averages above 95%) to Alaa Safia Bouzertit.
Ms. Hunter also presented two $500 Luther College at the University of Regina entrance scholarships to Aisha Ghulam and Alaa Safia Bouzertit.
Mrs. Ramadan presented the 2014 Ministry of Education General Proficiency Scholarship to Alaa Safia Bouzertit for academic excellence.
Ms. Ainsley presented the Access Communications scholarship to Eman Mohammed for her community involvement and academic achievements.
Mr. Phillips presented the fourth annual essay scholarships to Aisha Ghulam (1st place), Eman Mohammed (2nd place), and Saadia Burki (3rd place).
Teachers presented the subject awards to deserving students with the highest averages in the respective courses.
Dr. Aboguddah presented the Islamic Studies award to Alaa Safia Bouzertit, Eman Mohammed, and Sidrah Khan.
Teacher Asmaa presented the Qur’an memorization award to Mona Yusuf, Alaa Safia Bouzertit, and Sahar Tahir.
Mrs. Spock presented the mathematics award to Sahar Tahir.
Mrs. Ramadan presented the English award to Alaa Safia Bouzertit.
Mrs. Spock presented the science award to Sahar Tahir.
Mrs. Nistor presented the Principal’s Award to Sidrah Khan. The Principal’s Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated outstanding and ongoing leadership in academics, manners, and Islamic values. The recipient consistently demonstrates strength of character as well as care, concern, and respect for classmates and teachers. The student must also have demonstrated commitment to high academic achievement and continuous growth throughout the four years of secondary school. This is the fourth year we have presented this award.
Mrs. Nistor presented the Governor General’s Bronze Medal to Alaa Safia Bouzertit.
Alaa Safia Bouzertit delivered her valedictorian address. The valedictorian is the student with the highest overall average in April of their grade 12 year.
Dr. Aboguddah & Mrs. Nistor presented diplomas and medals to the 10 graduating students.
Dr. Aboguddah made a special presentation to special guests, staff, and board members with beautiful medals.
Mrs. Armstrong made closing remarks and guests visited and took additional photographs.
Congratulations Areeba Asmat, Mahnoor Ayub, Alaa Safia Bouzertit, Aisha Ghulam, Sidrah Khan, Nida Maken, Eman Mohammed, Sahar Tahir, Abdulrahman Yusuf, and Mona Yusuf.
