The Big Crunch!

13 Oct 2017

To celebrate World Food Day, students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 4 participated in “The Big Crunch”. It is an opportunity to get excited about healthy eating, learning about our food system, highlighting the availability of local produce, and promoting growing our own food.

Over 60% of our vegetables come from outside of Canada; raising awareness like this helps support our local growers. Learning about food and how it gets from field to table provides important exposure to healthy food. Healthy eating not only keeps our bodies healthy but also contributes to positive learning outcomes for our children and youth.

On Friday, October 13th students crunched down on delicious and nutritious carrots purchased from local farmers and gardeners around Regina. These carrots are local and fresh, and paid for by the United Way of Regina.

The MYSLC prepared a puppet show to help students understand the importance of the big crunch.
